Phoenix BIOS Editor is a legacy Windows utility used to open, inspect, modify, and rebuild Phoenix-based BIOS images, with partial support for some Phoenix-Award variants. Aimed at OEMs, firmware engineers, and experienced technicians, it provides a workspace to adjust setup menus and defaults, localize strings, manage DMI data, replace splash logos, and extract or swap individual BIOS modules. The tool can repack modified images with appropriate compression and checksums to produce flashable ROMs.

Key points:

  • Supports select Phoenix BIOS formats (for example, .WPH/.ROM) from pre-UEFI systems; compatibility with modern UEFI firmware is limited or nonexistent.
  • Typical tasks include editing setup options and text resources, updating microcode or option ROM modules where supported, and customizing OEM branding.
  • Requires deep familiarity with firmware; incorrect changes can render hardware unbootable. Always work from verified backups and ensure a recovery path.
  • Historically distributed under restrictive licensing and intended for OEM use; obtain it only from trusted, authorized sources.

Phoenix BIOS Editor is developed by Phoenix and is used by 4 users of Software Informer. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2. The names of program executable files are BIOSEDIT.exe, editor.exe and rvbedit.exe.
